Lake Gaston Association

Lake Gaston at SunsetThe LGA is a citizens' organization that actively advocates and promotes the interests of individuals, families and businesses who own property in the two states and five counties of Lake Gaston.

Each of the five counties surrounding Lake Gaston has five (5) volunteer Directors on the LGA Board (25 Directors).

We are a volunteer, nonprofit, nonpartisan and nonsectarian organization, unified for greater influence with our Federal, state and local officials and agencies that have management authority on and around Lake Gaston.

Our Mission

Serving as a "unified voice" of property owners from two states and five counties, the LGA was formed in 1988 for the purpose of maintaining and enhancing the quality of recreational and residential enjoyment of Lake Gaston.  The LGA has continued its mission and works to identify lake issues affecting our members and pursue resolution with the responsible organizations.

Our Membership

LGA membership is comprised of both property owners and businesses on and around Lake Gaston; many of whom have permanent homes elsewhere, and own vacation property on the Lake.

Our property owners are located in five counties that span the two states bordering Lake Gaston: North Carolina and Virginia.  Because of our geographical disbursement, and for other reasons, we as individual property owners have limited power to affect the political process on issues of concern.  The Lake Gaston Association was formed to create a critical mass of property owners, constituting a significantly large mass of people...with voting power...that politicians would recognize.

Because we have so many non-resident members, it was decided to form a Board of Directors consisting of 25 members - five Directors from each of the five counties.
